The charge can be passed from person to person through touch. The device emits energy particles within a radius of 500 meters which attract the creatures. There is a core of [[Control crystal]]s that powers the device and can be rearranged to change the charge of the device. The device has an orange glow when set to allow a charge for the creatures to be seen and a green glow when set to stop it. The device was left behind when the Ancients left the planet. [[SG-1]] found the device in [[2002]] and took it back to [[Stargate Command]]. [[Jonas Quinn]] was the first person to touch it which activated it and imparted a charge on him allowing him to see the interdimensional creatures. It was transferred to [[Area 51]] for study but brought back to try to stop its effects after others began seeing the creatures. [[Samantha Carter]] removed the power core to try to stop it but it didn&#039;t work so they took it back to the planet but that didn&#039;t work either.
