[[Doctor|Dr.]] [[Carson Beckett]] discovered the gene in [[Tau'ri]] and that it was responsible for allowing control of certain [[Lantean]] technologies. {{Cite|ATL|Rising}} Beckett developed a [[Gene therapy]] that delivered the gene using a deactivated [[Mouse]] [[Retrovirus|retrovirus]] in order to give the gene to people who didn't have it.
