==Biography==
He recruited [[Colonel]] [[Frank Simmons]] for the NID. {{Cite|SG1|48 Hours}} Maybourne took over his position from Colonel [[Kennedy]]. When the [[Tollan]] were at [[Stargate Command]], he came to the base to inform them that they would be coming with him to a secure facility in the [[Rocky Mountains]] in order for the NID to learn more about their technology; having gotten permission from the [[President of the United States]]. When they were escaping through the [[Stargate]], Maybourne ordered the guards in the [[SGC Gateroom|gateroom]] to stop them and to open fire but the [[Nox]] [[Lya]] used her abilities to remove their weapons. When an [[Orb]] anchored itself in the gateroom, pinning [[Jack O'Neill]] to a wall and releasing an [[Organism (Message in a Bottle)|organism]], Maybourne wanted to get a look at it. {{Cite|SG1|Message in a Bottle}} After [[Teal'c]] was stung by an [[Insect (Bane)|alien insect]] that began to change his DNA, Maybourne took him away to a research facility to "help" him. He wanted the change to occur so they could determine if the insects could be used as a weapon. Teal'c escaped and Maybourne began a search for him. A tip led them to an abandoned building where his men found a young girl called [[Ally]] who said that she hadn't seen anything but even if she did she wouldn't tell him as she didn't like him. {{Cite|SG1|Bane}}

Maybourne may have been ordered to allow the second Stargate stored at Area 51 to be taken by rogue NID members. He met SG-1 when they came to Area 51 asking about the [[Touchstone]], which had been stolen from [[Madrona]]. They asked to see the second Stargate and discovered that it had been replaced by a plastic replica. When questioned, Maybourne had SG-1 escorted back to their vehicle to leave the facility. When the second Stargate was recovered, O'Neill spoke to Maybourne who told him that people and property get reassigned all the time and orders change everyday, implying that whoever took the Stargate could take it again. {{Cite|SG1|Touchstone}}

He was contacted by [[Samantha Carter]] who told him that the SGC had been taken over by [[Alien (Foothold)|aliens]] and said to meet her. He contacted the SGC and was told that Carter had been exposed to a chemical that caused her to think the base had been taken over so he told them where he was to meet her. Maybourne said that he would return with her to perform a search of the SGC and during their return trip, O'Neill and [[Daniel Jackson]] were exposed as aliens. Maybourne cut his hand open to prove that he was not an alien and had Carter go and check his pilot as well. Maybourne allowed Carter to go back into the SGC to enact a plan to interfere with the aliens [[Mimic device]]s and expose them, allowing Maybourne to lead his men in and take the base back. {{Cite|SG1|Foothold}}

Maybourne had been leading an offworld team, communicating with them using a [[Goa'uld Long-range visual communication device]]. When O'Neill was forced to retire after stealing technology from the Tollan and remarking that they should just take what they need, Maybourne went to see him and offered him a position with the [[Rogue NID]]. O'Neill eventually accepted and went offworld to join the team. Maybourne relayed information about an [[Asgard Invisibility device]] and sent his team to go and collect it. The rogue NID personnel were all arrested, when it was revealed that O'Neill had been working undercover to track them down. {{Cite|SG1|Shades of Grey}}

He escaped justice, running to [[Russia]] eventually and giving them details on the [[Stargate]] and helping them set up their own program when the recovered a Stargate from the [[Pacific Ocean]]. When the [[Siberian Stargate facility|facility]] got a sample of water that had [[Organism (Watergate)|organisms]] in it, they began to take over personnel to try to get back to their [[Planet (Watergate)|planet]] and Maybourne was affected. When [[Nerve gas|nerve gas]] was released, the organisms took Maybourne into a freezer to survive, freezing him but they organisms kept him alive. He was later thawed out but the organisms left him. He grabbed O'Neill and pulled him into the freezer to save them as the organisms took over Teal'c. He told O'Neill what had happened and there was nothing that could be done for Teal'c but O'Neill went after him anyway. {{Cite|SG1|Watergate}}

Maybourne was convicted of treason and put in prison. He was visited by O'Neill who wanted to find out who had blackmailed Hammond into retiring. Maybourne agreed but would need to be taken out of prison to help him track them down. They visited a safe house of Maybourne's and he attempted to hack into NID message boards but could not and he was tracked, leaving him and O'Neill to escape at the last minute. They went to see [[Senator]] [[Robert Kinsey]] and he took them into his office to speak privately. O'Neill figured out Kinsey's password and it allowed Maybourne to gain access and get the information. He emailed himself a copy of the information and used it to get Kinsey to have him transferred to another prison and he escaped during the transfer. He went to a tropical area and called O'Neill to thank him for the opportunity. {{Cite|SG1|Chain Reaction}}

He helped in some negotiations between a rogue faction of Russian army intelligence and [[Zeditron Industries]] for a [[Goa'uld (Desperate Measures)|Goa'uld symbiote]], pocketing a $3 million fee for himself. He received a message from O'Neill looking to meet and he came to see O'Neill, saying that he knew nothing about Carter's abduction but told him to look into User 4574. He went to see [[Diana Mendez]], a Zeditron employee, to ask what she knew about Carter's disappearance and was found by O'Neill as he was leaving. He and O'Neill broke into Dr. [[Neil Brooks]]' office, who Maybourne had sent the symbiote to, and learned that Zeditron owner, [[Adrian Conrad]], was dying and a symbiote was the only cure. He joined the rest of SG-1 to track down Carter and when left alone to guard two doctors, he handcuffed them and escaped. {{Cite|SG1|Desperate Measures}}

He came back to see O'Neill, who assumed that Maybourne had been the one who shot him, and told him to watch out for [[Frank Simmons]] and told O'Neill that he would be in town for a little while to help with the situation where Teal'c was trapped within the Stargate. O'Neill came to see him and Maybourne did some digging and found that Simmons had visited [[Minot]] before going to the SGC and Maybourne knew of a safehouse in that city. He and O'Neill went there and took down the NID guards and found the Goa'uld that Simmons helped escape. Maybourne knew that he would be captured at some point so he went ahead with a plan to retire offworld after getting his hands on a [[Furling Transporter Stone]] and learning how to activate it and that it lead to a utopia society. He revealed to O'Neill that he knew of a cache of advanced weapons and offered to take him there. He turned himself in and when O'Neill took the stone, he revealed that there was a combination to use it. He didn't activate the [[Furling Transporter]] on purpose, acting as thought it didn't work so he could get Carter's [[Zat'nik'tel]] and stun her and O'Neill. He activated the transporter and went through as O'Neill tackled him. He told O'Neill about the utopia but they found everyone there to be long dead. He started eating a [[Plant (Paradise Lost)|plant]] which began to make him paranoid and hear things at night. He wanted O'Neill's [[9mm]] but he was refused so during the night he stole O'Neill's [[P-90]] and disappeared. He set a trap for a pig that injured O'Neill and he was shot by O'Neill who was aiming at the pig. Delusional, he attacked O'Neill but was shot again. The plants effects wore off and he recovered but didn't want to go back to Earth to go to jail so O'Neill asked the [[Tok'ra]] to find a planet for him to retire on. {{Cite|SG1|Paradise Lost}}

He went to a [[Garan's planet|planet]] where he discovered some ruins that talked about future events including a bad flood. In order to warn the people he pretended to be a seer and warned the people who moved their village and later crowned him their king. He married several women and designed a windmill, irrigation system, legal code and medicines for the people. He learned from the ruins that the Goa'uld would be returning to the planet and that they would be defeated by off-worlders. When SG-1 arrived he was surprised it would be them to do it. When O'Neill arrived, he told Maybourne that he had to tell the people the truth and get them to leave, but the people instead were convinced by [[Garan]] that many of the things Maybourne had done did not come from the ruins and he was a true leader. [[Ares]]' [[First Prime]] [[Trelak]] arrived and Maybourne told him that he could ensure that the people would be subservient. When a fight broke out, he tried to knock out Trelak but was thrown back. Ares was killed and his Jaffa were defeated, allowing Maybourne to continue to rule. {{Cite|SG1|It's Good To Be King}}
