A Hail Mary is a very long forward pass in American football, typically made in desperation, with an exceptionally small chance of achieving victory.

History

Flutie achieved a Hail Mary pass in a Football game and helped win the game. John Sheppard later called Meredith Rodney McKay using a Lantean Personal shield to help send an entity through the Stargate and risk his life as a Hail Mary. Template:Cite
