Lightning

Lightning is a naturally occurring electrostatic discharge during which two electrically charged regions, both in the atmosphere or with one on the ground.

Overview

Lightning can jump from one point to another mid-strike. Template:Cite The Canon's Ring can channel lighting to the ground to stun targets. History

Benjamin Franklin was said to have experimented with lightning. Template:Cite Meredith Rodney McKay was once almost struck by lightning. Template:Cite Daniel Jackson asked whether or not lightning would be responsible for melting the Unity crystals, but Samantha Carter remarked that the melting was too precise to be lightning. Template:Cite SG-1 directed lightning to a Stargate to provide it with enough energy to dial out. Template:Cite Oma Desala used lightning to kill several Jaffa who had taken Shifu and killed the Priestess looking after him. Lightning was used to power the shield on Atlantis but using the lightning rods and disabling the grounding stations so the energy was directed to the shield generators.
