Overview
The orb is made of an alloy, that consists of two elements not known to the Tau'ri in 1998, which is several hundred times stronger that steel. Covering the surface of the orb are pages of very small writing. In its inactive state the orb maintains an interior temperature of 33 degrees Fahrenheit, generates an elecromagnetic field and emits small amounts of alpha, gamma, and delta radiation. When it becomes active the internal temperature begins to rise, the electromagnetic field intensity increases and the radiation levels increase. Shortly after activtation, the orb will split open. It will shortly afterwards produce spikes to anchor it to an area and help spread the organism. The spikes are made of the same material as the orb surface and can extend distances through solid materials. Template:Cite
History
Around 98000 B.C. a race discovered their planet was dying and they created the orb and the organisms to continue their civilization at some point in the future. The orb was found by SG-1 who took it back to Earth. Once it had been handled the orb activated and as the radiation levels began to rise, they took to the Stargate to send it back but its extended its spikes to prevent them, putting one through Jack O'Neill and pinned him to a wall. Teal'c used his Staff weapon to try to destroy the orb but it absorbed the energy. Sergeant Dan Siler used a cutting torch to try to sever the spike pinning O'Neill to the wall but as he was almost through the spike extended. After the organism used O'Neill to communicate with them, the organisms returned to the Orb to be sent through the Stargate to P4G-881, a world where the organism could grow unhindered. Template:Cite
