Uncertainty principle

The Uncertainty principle, also known as the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle, implies that it is in general not possible to predict the value of a quantity with arbitrary certainty.

History

The Altairan copy of Samantha Carter said that duplicating the neural structure of a brain defied the uncertainty principle. Template:Cite Carter said that according to Newtonian physics, if you knew the position and velocity of every particle in the universe at any given moment you could accurately predict all of their interactions for the rest of time but then added that the uncertainty principle meant it was impossible to know the position and the velocity at the same time.
